Missionaries Help 'Manage' Graffiti
MELBOURNE, VICTORIA, AUSTRALIA -- A graffiti management program in
the greater dandenong are of Melbourne costs just two-thirds of what
it would otherwise cost due to a network of volunteers, including LDS
missionaries. On average 1,400 sites in the city are scrubbed clean
through the efforts of the volunteers. The missionaries in the area
have worked in the program every Friday since 1996. Elder Pilcher, a
20-year-old missionary from the US, said "We've got all the tools we
need to do the job and we have a lot of fun doing a service for the
community. I've been here for two years now and this program is a
good way of getting out and about in the community."
