BYU's Center for the Preservation of Ancient Religious Texts (CPART)
has prepared a CD-ROM database of the non-biblical texts in the Dead
Sea Scrolls, which will be published in the middle of this month. The
project represents years of work compiling the information.
The Center, which was formed in 1997 in connection with the
Foundation for Ancient Research and Mormon Studies (FARMS) . However,
unlike FARMS, the center's work does not focus on works with a Mormon
connection. As a result, its work appeals to a broader and mostly
non-LDS audience.
CPART's director, Daniel Peterson, says that the work will be a great
asset to the world, "The non-biblical writings are original, no one
in the community has ever seen them before," Peterson said.
