TACOMA, WASHINGTON -- A student at the Pacific Lutheran University was
cited for trying to take books about Mormonism out of a downtown Tacoma
library without checking them out. The woman triggered the security
monitor alarm as she attempted to leave the library.
After the 23-year-old woman's backpack was searched, police discovered
that she had cut the bar code from one library book in an attempt to get
it out of the library without triggering the monitor. She claimed that
she was doing a school project about Mormon settlement in America and
couldn't get a library card to check the books out.
