LDS Temple in Mesa Decorates for Christmas (Battle of the bulbs)
(Phoenix) AZ Republic 12Dec99 D1
By Barbara Yost: The Arizona Republic
PHOENIX, ARIZONA -- The Phoenix area's East Valley is so decked out with
Christmas lights that astronauts could spot the town from orbit, claims
Yost in the Arizona Republic. The Mesa Temple is part of the decoration,
sporting more than 600,000 Christmas lights as part of Mesa's Holiday
Lighting Program.
The Temple is like an anchor to Mesa's lights, not only providing part
of the display itself, but providing an end to a series of banners and
lighted displays that stretch across Main Street at intervals from the
Temple west to Country Club. Last year the Temple's display attracted
1,250,000 visitors.
