LDS Church spokesman Dale Bills confirmed Tuesday that LDS Church
President Gordon B. Hinckley will do a new live interview on
Christmas eve with talk show host Larry King, as King claimed in his
column in USA Today. King will interview President Hinckley as part
of his "Millennium Month" series on CNN. Details are still being
finalized.
In addition to the interview with President Hinckley, King will speak
with the Rev. Robert Schuller, live from Jerusalem, and South African
Archbishop Desmond Tutu, live from the National Cathedral in
Washington. It is possible that King will be in Salt Lake City
himself, so that he and his wife, LDS Church member Shawn Southwick,
can spend the holiday with her family in Provo, Utah. The couple also
own a home in Provo.
President Hinckley first appeared on King's show, Larry King Live, on
September 8, 1998. President Hinckley was also interviewed by "60
Minutes" correspondent Mike Wallace in a show that aired April 7,
1986.
