LDS Basketball Star Joins Golf Products Company
(Former NBA All-Star and NCAA Coach Join FILA Golf Sales Team)
PRNewswire 8Mar00 S2

SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH -- Former NBA All-Star and LDS Church member Thurl Bailey has agreed to work for a FILA licensee, Renaissance Golf Products, to promote its products in its FILA Golf Business to Business Program. Bailey, who played for the Utah Jazz, joined the LDS Church while playing basketball in Italy.

Renaissance is aiming to become the premiere golf brand for corporate gifts and promotions. Their business to business program seeks to sign up corporations as partners, making them eligible to get exclusive pricing structures for corporate gifts and promotional items and reduced prices on FILA brand merchandise. FILA is a major european-based manufacturer of sporting goods.

Baily, and former BYU basketball coach Tony Ingle, who also agreed to help Renaissance, will use their contacts in the sports community to make contacts in major corporations. "Their dynamic personalities, notoriety that stems from their sporting careers and their individual reputations for hard work and success are outstanding assets in our crusade to revolutionize the golf industry," explains CEO John Hewlett. "Right now all the major golf companies seem to be treading the same path toward claiming a share of an overcrowded market. We're blazing a new path -- a more direct path -- and we believe the rewards will be substantial."
