Columnist Fascinated by Mormons
Stockwell Day has been causing quit a stir across the country. With his
moral stance on gays, abortion, gun ownership and capital punishment, he's
been a favourite target for the media. Even though his political agenda as
the new leader of the official opposition has been more economical than
social, the media can't help but paint the former Christian school
principal and youth minister in a redneck colour.
Some of the media are pleased with his young and fresh face and welcome the
opportunity for some change, be it economic or moral.
Elizabeth Nickson, a columnist for the National Post is such a person.
She's confident her late father would be "twirling around on a cloud" at
the political progress Day has made. She, in fact, likes Christian herself.
She is quoted as having "preferences, for instance I favour Charismatics,
but I adore blood-of-the-lamb Baptists too and confess to being fascinated
by Mormons."
It's from this stance than she thinks "Stockwell and his crew...are
probably quite a lot of fun."
