Osmond Movie Gives One Writer Memories, Sense of Life |
Television network ABC will air a two-hour film
about the Osmond family on Monday, February 5th at 8 pm. The film is billed
as a sort of tell-all, in which the actors show what family members say they
felt at the time. In New York's Village Voice weekly newspaper one writer's
well-written essay relates his feelings as he witnessed the filming of the
movie. Guy Maddin says that seeing the filming was more than a trip down
memory lane. It also taught him about aging and life. |
Hallmark Adapts LDS Artist James Christensen's 'Voyage of the Basset' for TV |
LDS Artist James C. Christensen's "Voyage
of the Basset" has been made into a TV movie by Hallmark
Entertainment and will air on the Odyssey Channel in early March. The
film adaptation, renamed "Voyage of the Unicorn," features actors
Beau Bridges, Heather McEwen, Colin Heath, Kristian Ayre. Christensen
also recently introduced a new painting, "All the World's a Stage" in
commemoration of the 40th anniversary of the Utah Shakespearean
Festival. |
New Trailer for Brigham City hits Theaters this Weekend |
The newest version of the trailer for Brigham
City, the latest film from the director of God's Army, hits theaters
along the Wasatch Front this weekend. An early version of the trailer for Richard Dutcher's latest film was first released on the VHS and DVD release of God's Army, Dutcher's
breakthrough movie about Mormon missionaries. That first trailer was
cut while Brigham City was still being filmed in Mapleton, Utah. |
Little Change Among Mormon Titles on Bestseller Lists |
There was little change among the Mormon titles
on US best seller lists this past week. In all, six titles are on the
lists, with Anne Perry's Whitechapel Conspiracy dropping back off the
lists, probably temporarily, replaced by Card's Ender's Game, which
rejoined the list, also probably temporarily. |
Historic paintings on display in Ricks religion building |
Four historic painting by Latter-day Saint artist
Minerva Teichert are now hanging in the John Taylor Religion Building
at Ricks College. The paintings are on loan from the Cokeville, Wyo., LDS Church while
it is being renovated. They will remain on display at Ricks until
sometime toward the end of 2001, says Ricks art faculty member Gerald
Griffin. |
