Murrietta Stake Open House Held Sunday
MURRIETA, CALIFORNIA -- Members of the Murrietta Stake hosted an
open house Sunday, February 18th at 7 pm for their new chapel at
23800 Washington Ave. The open house was noted in an article by the
Riverside California Press-Enterprise last Saturday, February 10.
The article drew attention to the varied functions that the typical
LDS chapel performs throughout a given week.
Providing a location for Sunday worship, early weekday morning
seminary classes, youth activities on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings,
and youth dances on Saturday nights, the new 15,000 square foot
complex in Murrietta will allow some church members who currently
travel to Lake Elsinore and Sun City to participate in activities
closer to home.
The building houses 24 classrooms, a library, basketball/volleyball
court, nursery, kitchen, and "mother's room" to care for nursing
babies during meetings. In addition to the architectural concept of
the building, the chapel is described as an environment for
instilling the virtues of faith-centered education and character
building starting at an early age.
Plans for the 5-acre site include a covered pavilion with picnic
tables and ballfields. This facility is the third for the Murrieta
Stake.
Construction of an additional building for the stake is scheduled
soon in Temecula.
