LDS Conference Center Contractors Win Award
SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH -- Legacy Constructors has won a 2001 Aon Build
America Merit Award for the company's work on the Conference Center
of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Three of Utah's
largest general contractors - Okland, Jacobsen, and Layton joined
together under the name Legacy Constructors for the project.
Seventy-nine projects were nominated for awards. Awards are
considered for new construction and renovation in the categories of:
Building construction; Heavy/Industrial construction; Highway
construction; Municipal/Utilities construction; Design-build; and
Construction Management. Small and large projects are considered
equally. It is the uniqueness of the projects that determines Build
America winners.
The criteria for the award include: state-of-the-art advancement,
excellence in project management, innovation in construction
techniques or materials, excellence in client service, contribution
to the community, meeting the challenge of a difficult job, and
sensitivity to the environment and surroundings.
