Osmond is Doing It All Over Again |
Donny Osmond is trekking over Europe promoting his
new album and bringing back memories of a 13-year-old star with a
mega-watt smile. "It will never be that way again," the 43-year-old
singer said with relief, "I wouldn't want it to be, I don't want to
be acting like I am 13 again. I will never be able to create that
level of hype and hysteria, it's about the music now." |
Prophet Joseph Smith Subject of Next Richard Dutcher Film |
In a press conference earlier today,
filmmaker Richard Dutcher announced that the subject of his next film
will be the life of the Prophet Joseph Smith, Jr. With a working
title of THE PROPHET: The Story of Joseph Smith, Jr., this will be
Dutcher's first big- budget film, with a projected budget of $10
million. Funding for the film is still being arranged. |
General Authority's Mission Experience Made Into Film |
"The Other Side of Heaven," a film based on the
memoirs of Elder John Groberg's book, "In the Eye of the Storm," will
make its nationwide debut early in the Fall of 2001. The film is a
culmination of a twenty-three-year dream by writer/director, Mitch
Davis. Inspired after seeing the film "Chariots of Fire," Davis has
been looking to tell a story of the missionary experience on the big
screen. |
Ord Begins Canadian Promotions In Calgary |
Less than six months after touring Utah
and Idaho and performing with LDS artists such as Peter Breinholt and
Julie de Azevedo, 19-year-old Maren Ord is ready to come home. Well,
at least for awhile. |
The Ark Comes To Edmonton |
Young Artists for the Arts is at it
again. Last August, the local youth organisation which promotes local
theatre productions by young people produced a comedy called "One
Mark Two Many" as a wrap-up to the 1999-2000 season. |
Bestsellers: Bestseller Lists See No Change |
On both the LDS bestseller list and among the
Mormon titles on the broader US national bestseller lists, there was
little change. The new paperback of LDS Church President Gordon B.
Hinckley's book "Standing for Something" remained a the top of the
LDS bestsellers and the three Mormon titles that have been on the
national lists for the longest all remained at about the same rank. |
New Products: Mormon News Introduces New Product List |
One of the biggest obstacles that producers of
Mormon products face is getting word of their products out to those
that might be interested. Reaching an audience outside of Utah is
limited to trying to get the attention of swamped managers of LDS
stores. While Church members that would be interested in a title
complain that they have never heard of a book when asked why they
haven't bought it. |
A Commemorative Salute to the First 100 Temples |
It was in October 1998 when President Gordon
B. Hinckley announced that "in all likelihood, we will have 100 or
more temples operating in the year 2000." Commemorating the
