Accident Put Missionary in Coma
SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH -- The missionary hit by a teen driver while riding a
bicycle Monday was knocked unconscious in the accident and remained in a
coma at LDS Hospital late Tuesday, according to a report this morning in the
Salt Lake Tribune. LDS Hospital spokesman Jess Gomez called his injuries
critical, saying, "We're taking it day by day, hour by hour."
The missionary, now identified as Elder Karl Miller of Vergennes, Vermont,
was riding his bicycle with his companion back to their appartment about
10:30 pm Monday. A teenage driver made a left turn into Elder Miller on the
poorly-lighted section of Old Bingham Highway at about 3500 West and 8600
South. According to West Jordan Police Lt. Dan Gallagher, an investigation
