MSI: Dionex Added to MSI, but Index Falls with NASDAQ
NEW YORK, NEW YORK -- A Mormon News subscriber reported that Dionex
CEO A. Blaine Bowman is Mormon, leading Mormon News to add his
company to the Mormon Stock Index. But while Dionex was up last week,
the Index fell 4%, slightly less than the Nasdaq, but more than the
other generally-watched stock indices. Declines in Dell Computer,
Cadence Design and Marriott accounted for most of the decline.
Dionex designs, manufactures and sells analytical instruments that
measure and analyze chemical substances in the environment. It is
based in Sunnyvale, California and employs about 800 people.
In addition to the declines in Dell, Cadence and Marriott, Corvis,
EarthShell and Franklin Covey had substantial declines. Corvis
dropped another 11% as law firms continue to file shareholder class
action lawsuits against the company in the wake of it substantial
decline from its IPO price. EarthShell fell 21% and Franklin Covey
was down 13%. The only large increase was Computerized Thermal
Imaging, which jumped 15% last week.
