Internet: New Apocalyptic Books, Non-US Pages

NEW YORK, NEW YORK -- The new websites this week include a couple for books that discuss the last days and two more meant for Church members outside the US. But these are just four of the ten new sites listed this week, including websites for an LDS photographer, an LDS sculptor, a "talk" website, and a new look at Book of Mormon geography.

The websites about millennial books include a fiction series by Wendie L. Edwards meant to immerse readers in what the last days will be like. They also include the website for Anthony E. Larson's trilogy of books exploring the prophecies about the last days.

Meanwhile, a nicely done website, the LDS Friend Project, is trying to provide basic information about the Church in Russian. LDS UK is a chat and message board website for those in the United Kingdom, and the Pasuquin Ward, Laoag Philippines Stake has a website, apparently in spite of the LDS Church's direction that local units should take down their websites so that the Church can provide sites for them.

Newly Listed Mormon Websites:

David Thomas Photography
http://www.dt-photo.com/

An LDS photographer in Southern California who specializes in weddings and 'on location' portraiture. Site features prominent picture of San Diego Temple in montage on front page. Site includes information about the prices and services Thomas provides, galleries of photos he has taken, and information about his work and contact information. Also includes links to Southern California sites.

Defender of Truth
http://www.geocities.com/dgaytan40/

Site created to defend the LDS faith against "those who wish to twist, mangle, and distort our beliefs." Also seeks to portray the truths found in the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ. Includes several documents written by the author about anti-Mormon deceptions and claims as well as his own story. Also includes a few links to other sites.

LDS Artworks
http://ldsartworks.com/

Sculpture by Tucson, Arizona-based LDS artist Dee Jay Bawden. Includes galleries of Bawdens LDS sculptures and sculptures of the Savior, along with information about the artist and contact information.

LDS Friend Project
http://www.ldsfriend.com/

Russian-language site with information bout the LDS Church's history, doctrines, etc. Includes online page to request Russian Book of Mormon.

LDS Talk
http://www.ldstalk.com/

Site trying to unite Latter-day Saints all over the world through Internet communication. Includes free email accounts, chat rooms, message boards, and matchmaking personal ads.

LDS UK
http://www.ldsuk.com/

Website for LDS Church members in the United Kingdom. Includes free email accounts, chat rooms, and message boards

Millennial Glory
http://www.millennialglory.com/

Website for the "Millennial Glory" series of novels by Wendie L. Edwards about an LDS family's experiences living through the last days until the time of Christ's second coming, reign and victory over darkness. Includes Adobe Acrobat files of the first two chapters of the book and an online order form.

A New Model for Book of Mormon Geography
http://www.geocities.com/jwarr87480/index2.html

Extensive site details the author's theory that the Book of Mormon lands are located primarily in Costa Rica. Includes detailed description of the theory, maps showing location of the lands mentioned in the Book of Mormon and a list of publications the author used in creating his theory.

Pasuquin Ward, Laoag Philippines Stake
http://members.ldscity.com/pasuquinward/

Website for Pasuquin Ward that is largely still under construction. Plans to include information about the Ward's history, location, members, Activities, and missionaries. Seems to be an official ward site that hasn't heard of Church policy about official local unit websites.

Prophecy, History, and Mormonism by Anthony E. Larson
http://www.mormonprophecy.com/

Website for books and subscription newsletter by Larson. His books examine the apocalyptic prophecies in the scriptures, describing the author's theories about the events of the last days.
