Pre-Mission Walk-on May Cost QB Last Season |
The NCAA eligibility rules are complex, and its
little wonder that a young kid from a small town could make an error tha
twould cost him a season of eligibility at an NCAA Division I-A school.
That's what has happened to Ryan Harris, backup quarterback for Western
Michigan's Broncos, all because he spent two weeks as a walk-on at Utah

Former Brigham Young University football team
captain, Craig Garrick, died Sept.3 at the age of 41. LaVell Edwards
spoke at his funeral and reminded those in attendance how he had once
told Garrick's mother Janet, that Craig shouldn't play football
because of his bad knee, a knee that was so bad it would bow six
inches to the side with every step. "That's not an option," she
replied. "If he didn't play, he would die." |
Sports: Injuries Take Toll on Football Players |
A couple of Mormon football players will miss
the rest of the season due to injuries. Greg Clark of the San
Francisco 49ers has a problem with a hamstring while the Baltimore
Ravens' Todd Heap has an ankle injury. Elsewhere, baseball's Jeff
Kent had his best week in a while, and subscribers have identified a
total of three Mormon hockey players ahead of the start of the season
this week. |
