Primary General President to Participate in Children's Sports Discussion
SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH -- Coleen Menlove, Primary general president of
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, will participate in
a planned discussion of using spots to improve the lives of children
in desperate conditions. The discussion, scheduled for February 9th
during the 2002 Winter Olympic Games, will also include U.N.
Secretary-General Kofi Annan and Archbishop Desmond Tutu of South
Africa.
The discussion was put together by former Olympic speed
skater Johann Olav Koss, now president of the charitable organization
Olympic Aid, who worked with Ann Romney, wife of SLOC President Mitt
Romney and co-chairman of Olympic Aid's board of patrons in Utah, to
assemble the group. The discussion will feature a roundtable
discussion including Nobel laureates Annan and Tutu, Mitt Romney (who
is, along with his wife Ann, also an LDS Church member) and a host of
high-level international figures whose activities involve them in the
rights of children.
