Receiver Jay Stubbs set for long route
TUSCALOOSA, ALABAMA -- Freshman quarterback, Jay Stubbs will leave in
the middle of January for a two-year mission for the Church. His
older brother, Troy, a receiver at Air Force, will return Dec. 8 from
a mission in St. Petersburg, Russia.
Jay Stubbs, a 5'-10" walk-on, has played in five of Alabama's seven
games. His father, Charlie Stubbs, is the Crimson Tide's quarterback
coach and offensive coordinator, which means he runs the offensive
portion of the game.
"I love playing for my Dad," Jay said. ''No matter how hard practice
is, its family time. I've been a coach's son all my life."
Jay hasn't received his call yet. ''Its exciting," he said.
"Wherever I'm called, I'll go. I'd like to go somewhere and learn a
different language. Some say the Third World countries are where the
best experiences are."
