BYU's Edwards wins his 250th
BYU coach LaVell Edwards reached a major coaching
milestone on Saturday as BYU beat Air Force 27-20 giving Edwards his
250th career victory. The victory also moved BYU up one spot in the
polls to 15 in the Associated Press poll and 12 in the CBS Sportsline
Power Poll.
Receiver Jay Stubbs set for long route
Freshman quarterback, Jay Stubbs will leave in
the middle of January for a two-year mission for the Church. His
older brother, Troy, a receiver at Air Force, will return Dec. 8 from
a mission in St. Petersburg, Russia.
LDS Basketball player part of UC Irvine's plans this year (Irvine Ready to Make Big Statement)
Coming off a 6-20 season last year, UC Irvine's basketball program has
gotten a big boost with the addition of two big men to shore up their
center. One of the two is LDS player Greg Ethington, a 6-8 freshman from
Arizona. Ethington averaged 14 points and nine rebounds at Gilbert High
last year.

A BYU win against Air Force on Saturday will give BYU
coach LaVell Edwards win number 250. But Edwards doesn't think its a big
deal, "I haven't even thought about it," he told the Associated Press.
"It's just another game,'' Edwards said. ``The big thing is that we're
in the hunt for the championship. That's the most important thing right
now, and that's what we keep an eye on." But a week ago, Edwards openly
discussed Florida State coach Bobby Bowden's approaching career victory
#300.
