Covey's 'Seven Habits' Rising While Newer Titles Fall on Bestseller Lists
NEW YORK, NEW YORK -- While more recent titles have peaked and are
falling after the Christmas season, Stephen R. Covey's classic "Seven
Habits of Highly Effective People" is rising on several best seller
lists. This past fall's hit history book, "Nothing Like it in the
World," and the even newer "Ender's Game" titles by science fiction
author Orson Scott Card all fell on several lists, but Covey's
ten-year-old book rose.
But the increase in the position of Covey's book may be due to
seasonal factors. With the Christmas holiday over, new titles aren't
being purchased as much, and publishers generally see a significant
dip in post-holiday sales because of the holiday. However, titles
like Covey's that sell consistently through the year don't fall as
much following the holidays.
The current titles on bestseller lists are:
Nothing Like it in the World, by Stephen Ambrose
A history of the building of the transcontinental railroad in the US.
Ambrose, a highly regarded historian, details the involvement of
Mormons in building crucial portions of the road, including the
driving of the "golden spike" in the heart of Mormon territory.
