Finally, Burgess Finds Success
SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH -- Chris Burgess is reaping success. After
turning down a chance to play at BYU and going to Duke, then leaving
Duke to attend the University of Utah, Chris is overcoming injuries,
self-doubt, and outside pressures to put together a string of solid
performances.
He did well in limited time for Duke, but was disappointed when he
didn't play during more important games. He also saw Utah producing
good big men like Keith Van Horn and Michael Doleac, both of whom are
in the NBA. With a few holes in his game, which needed addressing,
young Burgess made the decision to move to Utah.
Arriving at Utah, early in the conference season, Chris suffered a
fractured ankle. During the time recuperating from his injury, Chris
looked at his situation and realized that he had to just relax and
play. Since his return, he pit together three strong games with 13.6
points, 7 rebounds, and 2 blocked shots per game. He is back, and as
he continues to improve, is looking forward to the NBA.
