Deseret News Files Lawsuit Against Salt Lake Tribune Over Morning Distribution
The Deseret News escalated Salt Lake City's newspaper battle on Monday, filing a lawsuit in Utah's 2nd District Court and claiming that the Tribune used its control over the Newspaper Agency Corporation to "stifle competition" between the papers by delaying the News' move to morning publication. The move opens another venue in the ongoing battle between the newspapers, where the interpretation of the newspaper's joint operating agreement and the documents surrounding the 1997 sale of the Tribune are likely to be examined.

Brigham City Makes $103,000 for Weekend, Less Per Screen than 'God's Army'
Weekend box office results for Richard Dutcher's newest film, "Brigham City" were a respectable $103,629 from 51 screens in Arizona, California, Idaho and Nevada. The results exceeded those of last years' "God's Army", which took in $88,584. But on a per screen basis, the film didn't do as well, grossing a solid $2,032., much less than the previous movie's $7,382. The results put Brigham City 33rd in weekend gross among the films on Yahoo's movies page, and 28th in terms of gross per screen.

MSI: Mormon Stock Index Down Broadly, following NASDAQ
The Mormon Stock Index dropped more than 5% last week as the tech stocks in the index dropped broadly, accompanied by downturns among some of the major New York Stock Exchange listings. AES Corp. and Dell both contributed to the drop, which was offset by few, if any stocks. Just four of the 31 stocks on the Index were up for the week.
