Church May Sell Forest Hills TN Site to Baptists |
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day
Saints has reached a deal to sell a 21-acre site originally slated
for the Nashville Temple to a Southern Baptist congregation who wants
to construct a church on the site. The Grace Community Church would
have to get zoning approval from the city of Forest Hills to build,
and Forest Hills Mayor Charles Evers says he has "no opinion" about
their plans. |
LDS Exec Named to Coke Diversity Task Force |
M. Anthony Burns, an LDS Church member and chairman of
Ryder Systems, has been named to an oversight task force that will ensure
Coca-Cola Co. compliance with a racial discrimination lawsuit settlement.
Burns will serve a four-year term as one of seven members of the task force,
which will issue annual reports to Coke, the court and the plaintiffs in the
lawsuit. He resigned last November as CEO of Ryder Systems, but remains the
company's Chairman. |
MSI: Index Jumps 7.3%, Adds 32nd Company |
The Mormon Stock Index added its 32nd company
this past week and increased the number of companies it actively
tracks to 40 companies as the index's first anniversary approaches.
As if to commemorate its anniversary, the index exploded, jumping
more than 8 points to 122.75 and out performing all the major indices
last week. However, the index finishes its anniversary down nearly 6
points over last year, a drop of 4.5%. |
