Help in Resisting the Temptations of Everyday Life
SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH -- In the spirit of C. S. Lewis' classic Screwtape
Letters, author S. Michael Wilcox delves into the scriptures to unveil the
tactics used by the adversary and to identify the defenses the Lord provides
in "Don't Leap with the Sheep -- And Other Scriptural Strategies for
Avoiding Satan's Snares" (Deseret Book, $18.95).
Addressing a subject that has received little attention in books--how to
resist temptation--Wilcox draws adults and youth into an examination of
their lives and motives. He uses remarkable stories from his own experience
and from the scriptures to provide glimpses into human nature and point out
dangerous thought patterns that we all experience from time to time.
Each lesson in "Don't Leap with the Sheep" is preceded with a memorable
phrase or motto, such as "Listen to the Wild Man," "Beating Down the
Gopher," "Don't Go to Caiaphas' Palace," and "Am I a Wall Watcher or a Grape
Gatherer?" This book will help readers recognize danger signals and build
their own personal defense perimeters to resist the influences of the world
and win the greatest battles of life.
