KZION Moves Towards Traditional Radio
ST. GEORGE, UTAH -- When iM Networks, the leading provider of
Internet tuning solutions, and Royal Philips Electronics, one of the
world's biggest electronics companies, got together, they
revolutionized two of the most common technologies available in
households throughout the Western world. And KZION is a part of it
all.
The Philips FW-i1000 Internet Radio Mini Shelf System takes streaming
audio from Internet radio stations and MP3 audio streams and puts
them on a "traditional" radio right beside the FM and AM bands.
The FW-100 allows users to plug-in to their existing Internet
connection and with the push of a button automatically connect to
their favourite radio station, or choose from the thousands of other
stations covering 25 different genres.
"This was definitely a pleasant surprise," said John Hesch, station
manger at KZION. "This was something we hadn't even expected. To top
it all off by seeing us listed as one of the nine best stations in
iM's Religious collection is that much more exciting."
Kim Siever, KZION's Public Relations Manager, is amazed at the growth
KZION has experienced in just over a year.
"To think that last summer KZION was not much more than four
downloads on LDSTeach.com and to see where we have come now is
absolutely mind-boggling. We have gone from a never-heard-of online
radio station playing some rarely-heard-of musicians to the most
popular online independent LDS radio station playing nearly every LDS
artist out there."
"The partnerships we've made are one of the best parts of running
this station," adds Hesch. "Not only have we made great working
partnerships with dozens of artists and major recording labels, but
the partnerships we've established with KNAK and iM are so vital in
the explosive growth we've experienced."
