New Boy Band Has What It Takes, Plus Faith
SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH -- The phenomenal group known as Jericho Road
has audiences screaming for more. Abe Mills, Bret Bryce, Dave
Kimball, and Justin Smith make up Jericho Road and have burst into
the music world as a new boy band with a twist -- the twist being a
Christian message mixed in with teen idol good looks, great smiles,
and smooth vocal harmonies. They come from different locations across
the United States, but all four have one set of Christian values.
Those values are reflected in the just-released self-titled "Jericho
Road" (Shadow Mountain, $15.98). With styles and tunes in vein of
those from the Backstreet Boys and 'N Sync, Jericho Road has been
performing together for two years as "VOX." Since then they have
worked with Nashville songwriters as well as award-winning producer
Tyler Castleton to create their debut album, "Jericho Road."
The newest music sensation for Shadow Mountain Records, Jericho Road
has just the right formula to climb the charts and become a hit in
the world of contemporary Christian music. Some of the noteworthy hit
tracks on their extraordinary debut album are "If That's What It
Takes," "What His Love Is For," "There Is No End," and "Inside of Me"
which is also featured in a new music video. The new CD is already
breaking sales records for Shadow Mountain, with over 10,000 units
sold the first week.
"This isn't just about four guys who like to perform," says Jericho
Road member Dave Kimball. "This is about four guys who feel
passionate about their message and who want to share it with people
of all faiths."
Jericho Road
Jericho Road is the newest music sensation from Shadow Mountain. The
four members -- Abe, Bret, Dave, and Justin -- have been together for
two years as "VOX," an a cappella group that has performed throughout
the western United States. Their friendship and performance
experience have provided the foundation to make a strong move into
the world of contemporary Christian music.
"I just want to share my testimony (of the Lord) through music . . .
music that's positive but fun to listen to," says Abe Mills from St.
Louis, Missouri, "people will have a good time when they hear and see
us perform." Abe is a college graduate in broadcast journalism and
was a co-host of a Christian teen television show titled "Center
Street."
Bret Bryce is from Knoxville, Tennessee and graduated in August 2001
in finance. He is postponing Law School to pursue the new opportunity
with the group. "I really hope we can be a positive influence to
whoever listens to our music . . . especially the youth. They are
searching to find themselves and trying to decide what's important.
This music is 'cool' enough that they can be entertained while
hearing messages of inspiration and faith."
Dave Kimball, from Sandy, Utah, and Justin Smith, from Parma, Idaho,
are still trying to juggle the demands of the new group with their
schooling. Both will graduate in the spring of 2002 in
Communications. The demands in the studio and getting ready for their
live show, coupled with their already full academic schedules, have
given them little time for anything else. "It helps to feel like
we're doing something important," says Justin. Dave adds, "This isn't
just about four guys who like to perform; this is really about four
guys who feel passionate about the Lord and who want to share His
message with people of all faiths."
The group's debut release, the self-titled "Jericho Road," is now
available in stores nationwide. With songs written by top selling
Christian artists such as Steve Siler, including a couple of tunes
the guys co-wrote with their producer, Tyler Castleton, this new CD
is already breaking sales records for Shadow Mountain with over
10,000 units sold within the first week of release.
