Interest in Nauvoo Temple Growing
Interest from neighbors in the Nauvoo Temple, now under construction, is growing, says a local historian. John Hallwas says that the new building will "add significantly to the historical attractiveness of the community of Nauvoo. It was very carefully done."

Time Discovers a New Utah
Gordon B. Hinckley, the president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, reproved members last July for being clannish and adopting holier-than-thou attitudes. He called for the members to be more open and lectured them on being good neighbors to Utah's diverse population. The church plans to use the publicity generated by the Olympics to dispel myths about Mormonism and show the membership in a good light.

Mormons Have More Religious Paraphernalia Than Others
Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints have more religious paraphernalia per capita than Catholics and Charismatic Pentecostals, according to research shared by Dr. Ronald Jackson in this year's David O. McKay Lecture on Tuesday, Feb 12 in the Cannon Activities Center.

An associate professor of ancient scripture at BYU will be the speaker at a university devotional on Tuesday (Feb. 12) at 11:05 a.m. in the Marriott Center.

BYU plans service project during second week of Olympics
Brigham Young University will host a Humanitarian Service Project on Wednesday and Thursday (Feb. 20-21) in conjunction with the Olympics. The project will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the ballroom of the Wilkinson Center. Volunteers will make school kits for the LDS Humanitarian Center to send to people with educational needs all over the world.

Richard H. Cracroft in College of Humanities lecture Feb. 14
The College of Humanities at Brigham Young University is hosting a popular humanities professor in the annual P.A. Christensen Humanities Lecture on Thursday (Feb. 14) at 11 a.m. in 2084 Jesse Knight Humanities Building (JKHB).

Nobel Prize winner Roald Hoffman to speak at BYU
Roald Hoffman, winner of the Nobel Prize and professor of chemistry at Cornell University, will be the speaker at a university forum on Tuesday (Feb. 26) at 11:05 a.m. in the Marriott Center.

Students to Return Home as Entrepreneurs
When Anand Sangaa, a BYU-Hawaii international business major from Mongolia, returned home last summer, he searched unsuccessfully for a laundromat where he could wash and dry his clothes. Little did he know that his frustration would be the inspiration he needed to earn $5000 as the winner of the annual entrepreneurial competition at BYU-Hawaii this semester.

Second BYU-Idaho radio station features new name and new format
As cold temperatures permeate the Rexburg air, a new warmth can be found at 91.5 with radio station KBYR. A rebirth of sorts occurred in early January with a call sign change from what was previously known as KWBH.

Construction Management takes first place
Two BYU schools walked away with first-place awards at the National Association of Home Builders convention in Atlanta last week. Competing against other construction management students from across the country, BYU-Idaho won first place in the two-year college division while BYU in Provo, Utah, won first place in the four-year division.
