Walnut Creek Expells 'Flasher the Clown' from Parade |
A self-described devout Mormon has been expelled
from Walnut Creek's annual Walnut Festival Parade after townspeople
complained that his 28-year-old act is offensive. Bob Manion has appeared in
the parade, and several others, as "Flasher the Clown" since 1973. In his
act he opens his coat to reveal a small terrier sticking out of the top of
his pants. |
Local Church Leader Missed By Many |
CARDSTON, AB, CANADA -- Someone can certainly do a lot in 82 years. They can touch a lot of people's lives. Even more so through service
in the Church. Grant Matkin, of Cardston, passed away over a week ago in the
Cardston Auxiliary Hospital. Matkin, who married his wife Clara
nearly sixty years ago, touched more lives than just those of his six
children, 26 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. |
75-year-old LDS Judge Chafes at Mandatory Retirement Law |
3rd District Court Judge, Homer Wilkinson
will celebrate his 75th birthday on Saturday and become the first
Utah state judge to be forced into retirement by a 1996 statute that
capped judicial service at the age of 75. "I've worked all my life.
It's what my life is all about," said Wilkinson. He declined to
comment on the law, but said that it was a mistake for the Utah
Supreme Court to have included "senior judges" under the forced
retirement umbrella. |
