Brisbane Temple Construction Begins |
Construction on the Brisbane
Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is finally
underway. Ground was broken for the building last May after delays
brought on by opposition from the building's neighbors were resolved
in February. Now the projected cost for the Temple has doubled since
the Temple's announcement, to $17.25 million (Australian), and local
officials are now saying that they are glad the building is underway. |
BYU-developed French language CD-ROM to aid Olympic volunteers |
A team of faculty and students at Brigham Young
University has been instrumental in the development of a French
language CD-ROM to be used by volunteers at the Salt Lake Winter
Games. The CD-ROM, "À vos marques, Prêts, Partez: French at the Salt
Lake 2002 Games," was financed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of
France through the Alliance Française of San Francisco. The
software--whose title means "On Your Mark, Get Set, Go!"--aims to
teach "survival French" skills to volunteers for the upcoming Salt
Lake 2002 Games. |
