VIPs preview film about Joseph Smith
Washington's elite turned-out for a reception and
preview of the upcoming documentary, "American Prophet - The Story of
Joseph Smith" on Wednesday night and to meet his successor, President
Gordon B. Hinckley. The crowd included senators, House members, top
business leaders and diplomats from more than 20 countries.
Generally positive review for new book about LDS Church (Mormon America: The Power and the Promise)
The new book by former Time reporter and author of the Mormons, Inc.,
Time article Richard Ostling and his wife has drawn a short review in
the widely-used industry publication, Publisher's Weekly. PW is
generally pleased with the book, saying that it is better than its
cover makes it appear.
LDS Books among those at auction (Morgan library to auction 5 first-edition books)
Some of the Morgan County Library's past early
purchases have turned out to be good investments, as well as
providing needed resources for the community. Five booksin
particular, all first editions of notable works, have become valuable
enough that the library no longer circulates them. Now the library
has decided to sell these books, and use the proceeds to purchase
cheaper editions of the same books that can be circulated.
